A large fire broke out in Barcelona, Spain, on Tuesday, August 25, prompting a major emergency response as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control. The incident was reported in the Collserola area, above the Canyelles neighborhood, where flames and smoke could be seen from several elevated parts of the city.
According to local reports, the fire began shortly after 3 p.m. in the Collserola mountain range, an area that forms part of the natural park and contains both woodland and nearby populated areas. Almost 400 emergency calls were reportedly made to the 112 emergency service as residents alerted authorities to the spreading flames.
Fire crews from the relevant emergency services were deployed to the scene, supported by ground-based resources and at least one helicopter. Their immediate priority has been to contain the fire, prevent it from spreading further and protect nearby homes, infrastructure and other vulnerable locations.
